Distance Learning Accountability Communication

Hello Families,

This is a communication regarding distance learning accountability for students in grades TK-5. Due to COVID-19, the State of California issued a State of Emergency, directing all schools to close their campuses. As of March 23, your child began participation in Distance Learning.

Students in grades TK-5 typically earn a standards-based mark that monitors their mastery of targeted standards. During Distance Learning, students at the TK-5 grade level receive ongoing feedback on their Distance Learning assignments in order to help them continue their academic progress. A mark of NR (Not Reported) will be given on the report card in all areas for the third trimester. Trimester 2 marks for standards mastery and effort will remain to indicate what the student was able to do independently and under normal school circumstances prior to the school closure. On the final report card, teachers will provide feedback in the form of comments which may include:

  • Student participation/effort during the regular school year prior to school closure
  • Student participation/effort during Distance Learning
  • Next steps for growth

Eureka City Schools would like to thank you for your support and patience and we look forward to continuing your child’s education during the 2020-2021 school year.
