August 27, 2020

Good evening. This is Kristi Puzz, principal of Grant Elementary. We are delighted to welcome your student back to school this year - even though we are in a distance learning program. This week teachers have been working with students on how to navigate the digital learning platforms as well as leading activities to build classroom community online. This is our orientation week.

Beginning on Monday, August 31, we will be launching into our academic schedule. This schedule ensures that we are meeting the minimum number of instructional minutes required by the state while also ensuring that students are making progress towards meeting grade-level (or content area) standards.

This schedule may be found on your child’s Google Classroom and will also be included with their supplies during the supply pick up tomorrow from 9:00-12:00 and 4:00-5:30. Please review this schedule carefully with your student as it may differ from the orientation week schedule.

Now that the school year has started, please help your student be ready to learn by ensuring that {they} get adequate sleep and an appropriate space to use their device for connecting to the classroom. Students should ensure that they attend each class on time and show respect for fellow students and the teacher while using any of the online learning platforms.

Don’t forget to swing by tomorrow for supplies and salutations from 9:00-12:00 and 4:00-5:30. Pick up your supplies, wave at Grant Staff, and receive an Otter Pop.

Again, welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! We are excited to have you with us. Go…….. Bulldogs!
